PE 4454 Senior Capstone

​

Question 1: Was this course a valuable educational experience? Why or why not?

  • Yes, it made you really focus on what you want to do after college which is very important and can be overlooked while in school.

  • Yes. Learned skills applicable to real life situations

  • Yes, it taught me more about grad school

  • I think it was decent, probably could have been condensed into an 8 week class though.

  • This course gave me the tools needed in order to prepare for graduation and apply to graduate schools. It allowed me to fine tune what I wanted to do with my career.

  • Yes it was. Very educational and I feel like I learned a lot and am pretty ready for my future education and job applications

  • This course was extremely beneficial and helped me prepare for life after college.

  • Yes, however I feel some of the material was extremely redundant and shouldn't be required. For example, was the finding a job relevant to your field assignment worth the money this class costs..? Other then that I enjoyed the class.

  • Yes. It helped bridge the gap between schooling and a career.

  • Yes, I was able to get help with my resume and my personal statement.

  • Learning about making cover letters and resumes was really helpful.

  • I learned more from this class than any other. Everything we learned is applicable to now and the future.

  • Yes, absolutely.

  • Yes, she's great!

  • Professor Foster is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is passionate and really cares and wants you to succeed.

  • Yes very fun and enthusiastic

  • Of course I would, she’s awesome.

  • Absolutely. Elaine was one of the best instructors I have had at ISU.

  • Yes; Elaine is fabulous.

  • Yes. The instructor was nice and easy to talk to and clearly structured the class

  • We used pp it was helpful

  • The technology was used very well and beneficial to my learning.

  • Technology was fine; we used computerized lessons for the first half of the class.

  • Research- lots of helpful situation

  • Microsoft office is what I used the most.

  • Moodle, I liked the actual assignment format of it.

  • PowerPoint and websites.

  • Just computer work and it worked well

  • It was nice to have everything posted in Moodle so it was clear what was due.

  • portfolio was a bit much I shouldn't have to prove that I did my classes if there on my transcript.

Question 1: Was this course a valuable educational experience? Why or why not?

  • Yes, the course didn't present to many ideas or information to fast. It was very good for a foundation class.           

  • Yes i feel like the way Elaine talks i don’t tune out and i can listen to her the whole time and she makes it interesting and easy to remember      

  • Yes because Professor Foster does a great job of teaching and giving students all the tools they need to be successful in the course if they put in the work.        

  • Yes.  It is the basis for all other PE classes. Well taught.      

  • Yes, very valuable. Just wish there was more time to spend on each subject.          

  • Yes, it prepares well for anatomy

  • The study guides

  • Yes, she makes sure you know the important material

  • Yes, taught well graded fairly and follows course syllabus.

  • Yes, because I feel she is genuinely interester in helping you succeed.

  • Just typical. moodle

PE 2222 First Aid, CPR, and Sport Safety

Question 1: Was this course a valuable educational experience? Why or why not?

  • Very much so. I strongly enjoyed this class and will recommend it to others in my field of study.

  • I consider this course to be very valuable. I actually learned a lot, especially in first aid and CPR. I feel as though I am much better prepared to handle a variety of emergency situations.

  • Yes it was. This course helped me finally decide exactly what career I would like to pursue. I learned so much, not only about the course topics, but about myself during this course. This was so valuable to me.

  • This course helped me learn how to save someones life and it also helped me on how to prepared as a coach to have an emergency action plan on hand.

  • Yes everyone should know the content taught in this class.

  • It was because I was able to get CPR and first aid certified. Learned a lot about myself.

  • Absolutely.  The informatiom was presented in a meaningful way and is vital to helping in emergency situations as well as preparing for jobs in an athletic enviroment.

 

Question 2: What aspects of this course contributed most to your learning?

  • The professor was phenomenal. The assignments and exams given all were perfectly aligned with what she was teaching and made everything make sense.

  • The certifications outside and inside of class. This gave me a better understanding of what i needed to be to become a more well rounded athlete and coach.

  • The way it was presented was intriguing, and lecture was never dull

  • Learning CPR and learning about emergency action plans

  • The first aid procedures and proper sports safety requirements.

  • The hands on learning of CPR

  • It was beneficial to actually perform first aid and CPR. All of the interactive class periods helped us understand the information in an applicable way.

 

Question 3: Would you take another course from this instructor? Why or why not?

  • I definitely would take another course from Elaine Foster. She was easy to understand, great to work with, and unnecessarily difficult.

  • Yes i would because she is clear and concise in her teaching methods.

  • Absolutely. She was very well organized and i enjoyed her teaching style.

  • Yes. Very easy going and always is very helpful

  • Yes, her style of teaching was very effective.

  • I would love to take another course from this instructor. Not only was she phenomenal at teaching her subject, but she wanted us to succeed and made sure we knew that and knew how to make sure we did.

  • Yes. She was very appriachable and taught her class in a consise and consistent manner

 

Question 4: If this course utilized any form of technology, please comment on your experience.

  • It utilized moodle and it was a great experience, simple to navigate but worked perfectly with what we were learning, and the sites we were sent to were to certify us in certain training, such as a concussion certification which is very valuable.

  • We used moodle and some different online sources and they were all easy to access and use.

  • We often turned assignments in electronically. We completed some certification courses online as well.

  • Everything was very accessible through my lap top.

  • We used power point slides and youtubr videos during lecture

  • It was easy to turn in and view any and all slides.

  • Always got back our assignments 3 days after submitting them.

PE 4437 Methods of Teaching Secondary PE

Question 1: Was this course a valuable educational experience? Why or why not?

  • This class was a major waste of time! We were to break down a lesson and teach 10 to 20 minutes of it and then we had points taken away if we didn't do something (Well if I got to teach the whole lesson you would have seen the things that I left out). Such a waste I literally learned nothing in this class. Why do we have to write so many "perfect lesson plans" I have spoken with a few principals who don't give a crap about lesson plans!! When I become an educator you can bet your ass I won't be doing a lesson plan and if I have to it’s not going to be this in depth that's for sure!!! Total waste of time!!

  • Yes, because it eased into what student teaching will be like and more in depth of lesson planning.

  • Yes, this course gave me better insight as to what it means to be a Physical Educator, and coach.

  • This course was a valuable experience because It gave me strategies and methods that I will use throughout my teaching career.

  • Yes, this class taught me more that all PE techniques classes combined.

  • This class was valuable learning experience because it allowed myself to better form a philosophy of how I will educate

 

Question 2: What aspects of this course contributed most to your learning?

  • Understanding how to plan appropriately for your class and students.

  • Asking my peers what the heck we were supposed to do contributed to my learning.

  • The placement school hours contributed the most.

  • Field experience and the in class teaching.

  • Dr. Foster is really organized and methodical in how she presents. This really helped me stay organized and understand what is expected from assignments.

  • Peer teaching contributed the most to my learning

 

Question 3: Would you take another course from this instructor? Why or why not?

  • Yes. Elaine is amazing.

  • Yes, because she is thorough in instruction and strives for everyone to succeed in her class.

  • I would, She is a pretty good instructor but she needs to cool it in teaching secondary PE. I mean come on it's secondary PE.

  • Yes I would she makes sure the students know the information and is always willing to work with you. She also makes class interesting.

  • Yes, Elaine has high expectations of us and holds us to these expectations, while also providing us with all the tools necessary for us to succeed if we want it.

  • I would take another class from this instructor, very organized, helpful, and a pleasure to be around.

  • Elaine is proficient in technologies in presentations, and online communication through email and Moodle.

PE 4454 Senior Capstone

Question 1: Was this course a valuable educational experience? Why or why not?

  • Yes, I learned how to create professional materials for the professional world.

  • I thought this class was helpful in preparing me for getting a job after I graduate.

  • Yes, I learned a lot about my future.

  • I don't feel like it was incredibly valuable. I thought some of the assignments were valuable, such as the actual practical assignments. The interview was great, and there was a lot of valuable feedback. However, students at this point have used Onet multiple times and I thought it was silly that we had to type up so much information from that website. It took a lot of time and I didn't feel like I gained anything from it.

  • Good preparation for future development and career options.

  • Yes because it really helped to gain insight into the real world after college, resumes, careers, etc.

 

Question 2: What aspects of this course contributed most to your learning?

  • The mock interview

  • The assignments

  • Future job analasys.

  • The hands on application such as the interview process. I also liked and appreciated the research assignment.

  • I think the professional portfolio was the most helpful.

 

Question 3: Would you take another course from this instructor? Why or why not?

  • Absolutely. She's great.

  • Yes, she's super invested in her students.

  • Yes, she was very detailed and fair.

  • Yes I would I thought the professor was very helpful and always available.

  • Yes. Well organized

 

Question 4: If this course utilized any form of technology, please comment on your experience.

  • This course utilized Moodle but I felt like most of that was busy work.

  • Easy to work

Question 1: Was this course a valuable educational experience? Why or why not?

  • Yes it was because she made it very understandable and was eager to answer any and all questions that we had.

  • She was very helpful to me during this class.

  • It was since in my field I will need to know about the information learned in this course in order to do my future job

  • Yes, Elaine did a fantastic job!

  • Yes. I see this class as something everyone should take. We need to know about our body.

  • It was a great review of some important Anatomy and Physiology concepts

  • Yes this was a valuable educational experience because I learned about the human body in detail that will help me in the future for staying healthy. This is also was the start of furthering my education in physical education.

  • Yes, because it helps you understand how some diseases can happen and what is actually occurring in the body.

  • Yes it was. The material was challenging, but the information was presented in a way that made it easy to comprehend.

  • Absolutely.

  • The ability to know about these bodies we live in and use every day was a blessing. Having this knowledge can help us understand others and what they go through if they are sick.

  • Yeah, it helped me learn more about the body because beforr I had no experiance what so ever. It will also help me out in my wilderness medicine aspect about knowing where certain things in the body are.

  • Yes, I learned the basics of anatomy and physiology.

 

Question 2: What aspects of this course contributed most to your learning?

  • The power points helped a lot and the group problem solvers as well.

  • Learning the anatomy was really helpful.

  • The group problem solvers were very helpful in understand and applying what we had learned that day.

  • The aspects that contributed most to my learning was the helpful reviews and studying guides before an exam.

  • The group problem solvers, because it helped prepare students for the types of questions on quizes

  • How it was taught and activities that reinforced the material

  • The power point really helped because you can go back on moodle to look at them before the test.

  • The lectures and the worksheets went hand in hand. The ability to study from lecture notes and if you needed more information you could jump to the worksheets we were assigned and it was there.

  • The Group Problem Solvers were very helpful for my learning

  • The fun environment the teacher gave us.

  • Being able to study in class and going over what we learned after class

 

Question 3: Would you take another course from this instructor? Why or why not?

  • Yes. She was enthusiastic and made class fun while teaching us.

  • Yes, Foster was a great teacher, she explained things well and was always open for questions.

  • Yes I would, Professor Elaine Foster was great

  • I would definitely take another course by this instructor because I enjoyed how she taught; very easy to understand, very appoarchable, very energetic, and an awesome instructor.

  • Yes, the course was extremely well taught and I feel that I learned a lot.

  • Yes, mindful of other courses and worked with me on taking a test when I wasn't able to be there on the exam day. Also very structured and presented clearly.

  • Yes because she is one of the best instructors I've ever had here at ISU

  • Definately, she is very smart and her teaching stile is very engaging. There was no point in the class where I was bored.

  • Yes I would because she is very eager to help you when you need it and she does a good job of explaining the concepts as well as what she expects on assignments.

  • YES! This is my 2nd class with her and both have been awsome!

  • Most definitely. She knows what she is talking about. She doesn't hesitate to teach she just teaches and has an expectation from her students to pay attention. She doesn't babysit us like some others might.

  • We mainly used noodle and it was super easy to get to know.

  • The use of the smart board was well used every single day

  • No form of technology besides PowerPoint

  • Power points were good, and the app of the body was really cool to see.

  • It's nothing I haven't used before

  • She used a projector with a computer.

  • The technology was good.

Is there anything about this course and/or instructor that was particularly good? If so, what?

  • The instructor was good at giving feedback to assignments.  

  • Sister Foster was always friendly in her interactions and supportive of efforts made to learn. I liked being in this class.  

  • You can see that she cares about each student and wants them to succeed. She knows what she is talking about when it comes to personal health fitness. She graded fast and always wrote positive feedback on assignments.  

  • The instructor was very knowledgeable of the subject matter.  

  • Sister Foster is an amazing professor. I am so grateful I had her, her enthusiasm for health and wellness makes this class so much better. I also was very appreciative of her thoughtful responses and feedback to assignments and emails. I am so grateful I took this class!  

  • I loved the material.  

  • I like the assignments because they were so different than my other school load. This course helped me to focus on my health and understand stress in my life, and learn how to deal with it which was extremely beneficial to me.  

  • I really liked the health instruction  

  • The instructor was great.  

  • She was actively involved in our discussions, and her feedback was very helpful.  

  • I could tell from week 1 that Sister Foster is passionate about fitness (in all of the categories). Her enthusiasm allowed me to feel comfortable asking for personalized advice. Her weekly Notes were always informative and uplifting. The feedback she gave let me know that she does really care about this course and what we put into it.  

  • I really liked that she was very informative on the feedback. If I did a good job, or I needed to work on something, I always knew it.  

  • The teacher was inspiring to me and I wanted to learn more from her.  

  • Exceptional instructor! She was extremely knowledge and helpful.
