SCHOLARSHIP
Prior to beginning work on my Ph.D., I engaged in numerous scholarly endeavors. Individually and with colleagues I investigated topics important to the field of sport/physical activity such as women-centered physical education programming in higher education and women’s motivation to participate in an all-female, non-competitive cycling event. I also presented at numerous state and national professional conferences including conferences for the Society of Healthy and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Idaho (formerly IAHPERD), Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) America (AAHPERD at the time), and the Western Society of Kinesiology and Wellness (WSKS). Finally, I delivered numerous scholarly based interactive presentations to local groups in my community.
While completing my Ph.D. coursework, I have continued to engage in a variety of scholarly work. I have published two non-refereed manuscripts with professional organizations and have four peer-reviewed manuscripts in progress. One of these manuscripts details a qualitative study on sport uniforms that I completed with Dr. Stoll. Further, I have continued my involvement in professional organizations, which includes presenting at the 2019 Idaho Recreation and Park Association (IRPA) conference with Dr. Karen Appleby. Dr. Stoll and I are scheduled to present at the 2020 IRPA conference, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and have submitted to present at the 2020 WSKS conference. Unfortunately, my plan to submit a presentation to the 2020 International Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Dance and Sport was halted when the conference was cancelled due to the pandemic. Maybe next year.
Below is a detailed list of my scholarly work for: (a) scholarly book chapters, (b) peer-reviewed manuscripts, (c) peer-reviewed manuscripts in progress, (d) non-refereed scholarly manuscripts, (e) scholarly presentations at professional meetings/conferences, (f) scholarly presentations at professional meetings/conferences in progress, (g) non-refereed/invited/service presentations, and (h) grants. I have included the abstracts for publications and presentations that I have completed/am completing during my doctoral studies.
