PROFESSIONAL CITIZENSHIP

I have been involved with the SHAPE Idaho organization since 2009 when I attended the state conference in Moscow, Idaho. Because this event was my first exposure to a professional development conference, I did not really know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised to encounter many interesting presentations that were applicable to my areas of interest. Because my experience at this conference was very positive, I committed to attending and supporting this and other conferences in the future. I have attended every SHAPE Idaho conference since then and have been lucky enough to serve in several positions on the governing board. While providing this service, I was able to make many connections with many wonderful sport/physical activity professionals (including my major professor, Dr. Sharon Stoll). Many of these folks became role-models to me as they displayed and shared their passion and efforts for the sport/physical activity professions. Therefore, involvement in professional organizations is an important engagement that I will continue to pursue throughout my career.
